"We make markets
worldwide". This is the mission of Messe Frankfurt - and it is also a
reality, with 114 fairs and exhibitions at more than 30 venues around
the world. With 67,000 exhibitors, the international Messe Frankfurt
Group set a new record in 2006. This success is driven by the strategy
of internationalization which Messe Frankfurt has been pursuing since
the 1980s, and the company will be continuing its efforts to grow in
years and decades to come. The ambitious targets include expansion of
Messe Frankfurt's role as a global player in the international market,
cooperation with strong business partners and the creation of new
business areas, such as the
www.productpilot.com internet platform, as well as the introduction
of innovative products and concepts and the modernization of the
Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre.
Frankfurt is one of the
oldest trade fair locations in the world and the platform for the global
success of Messe Frankfurt. This is where many of the world's leading
trade fairs, such as Ambiente, Heirntextil, Automechanika and ISH, have
their roots. In 2006, the Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre hosted 40
fairs and some 200 congresses, conventions and events, with more and
more guests coming from abroad. 69 percent of exhibitors come from
outside Germany, and international visitors account for 40 percent of
total visitor volume.
More than half of the 114
trade fairs organized by the Messe Frankfurt Group in 2006 took place
outside Germany. At the 68 events held abroad, Messe
Frankfurt set a new exhibitor record, playing host to some 21,000
companies (2005: 18,850). More than 1.1 million buyers came to the Messe
Frankfurt events outside Germany, taking the total number of
visitors to over one million for the first time. The exhibitors and
visitors to events organized by Messe Frankfurt come from more than 150
different nations. 14 subsidiaries, five branches and 50 foreign
representatives look after the interests of their customers on location
around the world.
