WELL-POINT DEWATERING - The WP-150L
is suitable for lowering of Ground Water Control, for Open
Excavation in high permeable and especially in Non-Cohesive Soil
from Sandy to fine clayey silt. Open Excavation, without proper
dewatering, results in massive slope failure and damages, due to
seepage flow-line appearing along the surface of the slope. Fine
clayey silts, with a high natural water content, close to liquid
limit, may pose a great danger from sudden collapse, boiling, and
uplift from the bottom of excavation. At their natural water
content, they have properties of softness and weakness.
These situations can be
effectively pre-drained by Swift-Flow Dewatering Pump. In the early
period of pumping, huge discharge flow is encountered, as water is
rapidly released from storage, thus creating apparent cohesion,
resulting in increase effective stress.
Gravity drainage is no
effective, acceleration of water movement by the application of
vacuum in well-point dewatering is advisable. When unstable, the
soil material can act as liquid with high specific gravity, lateral
loading on sheet-piling can be large, and bracing failure will
occur.
The results achieved, by
effective well-point dewatering of these material can be quite
remarkable, without which even heavily braced sheet piling could not
control. After dewatering, with reduced water contents, open cuts is
possible with slope 1:1 or steeper. |
