Star Furniture Group was founded in 1981 when Richard Koh and Koh Kian Huat established Ngoh Hock Furniture Maker manufacturing bedroom sets, junior sets and customized kitchen cabinets and wardrobes for the wholesale market. By 1984, the company changed its scope to include retailing of its products. Their first retail outlet was set up in a shop-house at Yishun - the northern part of Singapore.
Star Furniture Group commenced its operations on 28th February 1981 with a small setup. Star Furniture Industries Pte Ltd was officially registered on 18th October 1991 as the official company name.
Being a contemporary furniture and retailer, Star has possessed over 10 retail chain stores, in places such as Singapore and Taiwan; and 3 manufacturing factories over the South-East Asian region. Star, as a furniture exporter, caters high quality knock down furniture to retailers as far as Canada, Europe and Middle-East. Star Furniture Group holds 3 brands under it, mainly Star Furniture, Mondi Lifestyle Gallery and Zen Tradition.

Fulfilling the business goal towards a brighter future, Star Furniture Industries Pte Ltd was incorporated in 1991, with the main objective to expand the retail business in the domestic market and to establish overseas export markets. Overseas expansion effort was visibly seen from the company�s active participation in numerous International Furniture Trade Fairs.
In the year of 2001, Star Furniture incorporated a separate brand identity by the name Mondi Lifestyle for its Singapore customers who are trends sensitive and supporters of the finest in living and lifestyle. This particular year also saw the opening of the company new factory in Simpang Renggam, Johor in Malaysia.
In 2002, following the increase of demands in its business, Star Furniture opened up a bigger manufacturing facility in China and at the same year create a new up market concept that featured oriental influenced designs under Zen Tradition Living Concept.
Today, with recently established Dongguan Star Furniture and its new 40,000-sqm China facilities, Star Furniture has secured its position to be one of the major players in the furniture industries in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Taiwan.
